He received his B.S. (1999) and M.S. (2002) degrees in materials science from Xi’an Jiaotong University (China) and Ph.D. degree in materials science from Zhejiang University (China) in 2005. He then became a JSPS postdoctoral fellow in Hiroshima University, Hiroshima, Japan. He joined Ningbo Institute of Materials Technology and Engineering (NIMTE), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) in 2008. Since 2014, he has been a Professor at NIMTE. Since 2018, he has been a Professor at Center for Excellence in Brain Science and Intelligence Technology, CAS.

Prof. Zhuge's research interest is mainly focused on low-dimensional semiconductor materials (oxides, sulfides, amorphous carbon, graphene, etc.) and devices (memristors, transistors, etc.), and their applications in brain-inspired artificial intelligence (artificial neurons and synapses, neuromorphic computing, vision sensors, etc.).
